भौगोलिक स्थिति- दक्षिणी राजस्थान में मध्यप्रदेश की सीमाओं से सटा हुआ जिला। यह जिला राजस्थान से सूती वस्त्र उद्योग के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।अक्षांशीय स्थिति- 25°1' से 25°58' उत्तरी अक्षांश।

मिट्टी- यहाँ लाल-काली मिट्टी पाई जाती है। यह मिट्टी मक्का और कपास के लिए अच्छी मानी जाती है। • पशुपालन और डेयरी- भीलवाडा में एक डेयरी संयंत्र कार्यरत है। पशुओं में यहाँ गाय, बैल, भेड़ व बकरियाँ पाई जाती हैं।
जल परियोजनायें :-
मेजा बाँध परियोजना-
यह बाँध भीलवाड़ा जिले में कोठारी नदी पर बनाया गया है। इससे भीलवाड़ा को पीने के लिए पानी उपलब्ध कराया जाता है।
खारी बाँध-
- खारी नदी पर भीलवाड़ा में बनाया गया है।
- कृषि/फसलें- गेहूँ, ज्वार, बाजरा, ग्वार, मक्का, गन्ना, आम, मूंगफली, अरण्डी।
खनिज-
- लौह अयस्क, ताँबा, अभ्रक, घिया पत्थर, चाइना क्ले, ग्रेनाइट, संगमरमर, सीसा व जस्ता, बेरीलियम, फेल्सपार, क्वार्टज, सिलिका सेण्ड। यहाँ कीमती पत्थर तामड़ा भी प्राप्त होता है।
- सर्वाधिक अभ्रक उत्पादन के लिए भीलवाड़ा देश भर में प्रसिद्ध है
- रामपुरा आंगूचा में बड़ी मात्रा में सीसा-जस्ता के भण्डार प्राप्त हुए हैं।
उद्योग-
- भीलवाड़ा को राजस्थान की टैक्सटाइल्स सिटी कहा जाता है। इसे राजस्थान में सूती वस्त्र उद्योग की अधिकता के कारण राजस्थान का मैनचेस्टर भी कहते हैं।
- 1938 में यहाँ मेवाड़ टैक्सटाइल्स मिल्स की स्थापना की गई। गंगापुर और गुलाबपुरा में सहकारी सूती वस्त्र मिलें कार्यरत हैं।
- राजस्थान में सबसे ज्यादा सूती वस्त्र उद्योग की इकाइयाँ भीलवाड़ा जिले में ही स्थित हैं।
- अभ्रक की ईट बनाने का उद्योग भी यहाँ स्थित है।
- भीलवाड़ा में माण्डलगढ औद्योगिक क्षेत्र और हम्मीरगढ औद्योगिक विकास केन्द्र स्थापित है।
हस्तशिल्प
फड पेंटिंग (शाहपुरा, भीलवाड़ा)-कपड़े पर बनी लोक देवी-देवताओं की जीवन गाथा की पेंटिंग फड़ पेंटिंग कहलाती है। देवनारायण जी की फड़ सबसे लम्बी मानी जाती है। श्री लाल जोशी इसके प्रसिद्ध कलाकार हैं, जिन्हें पद्मश्री से सम्मानित किया गया है।
परिवहन-
राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग संख्या-76 (जिसे राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग संख्या-27 में विलीन किया गया है) और 79 भीलवाड़ा जिले से होकर गुजरते हैं।
दर्शनीय स्थल
माण्डलगढ़-
भीलवाड़ा से 51 किमी. दूर त्रिभुजाकार पठार पर मांडलगढ़ में एक प्राचीन दुर्ग स्थित है। मुहम्मद गौरी ने इस दुर्ग को चौहानों से जीता। बाद में यहाँ हाड़ाओं ने भी राज किया। उनके मेवाड़ के सिसोदियों से युद्ध चलते रहे। मेवाड़ के क्षेत्रसिंह ने इसे 1389 में जीता किन्तु फिर कुछ समय के लिए किला हाड़ाओं के कब्जे में आ गया और फिर कुम्भाओं ने इसे जीत लिया। मुगल बादशाहों के लिए माण्डलगढ़ मेवाड़ का प्रवेश द्वार था। यहाँ के दर्शनीय स्थलों में शिव मन्दिर, ऋषभदेव जैन मंदिर आदि हैं।
सवाई भोज का मंदिर-
भीलवाड़ा-ब्यावर सड़क मार्ग पर भीलवाड़ा से 50 किमी. दूर आसीन्द में सवाई भोज का प्राचीन मंदिर गुर्जर समाज का तीर्थस्थल है। यहाँ । प्रतिवर्ष भाद्र माह में पशु मेला लगता है।

मेनाल-
माण्डलगढ़ से 20 किमी. दूर चित्तौड़ की सीमा पर यह पुरातात्विक एवं पर्यटक स्थल स्थित है। यहाँ 12वीं शताब्दी के चौहान काल में लाल पत्थरों से निर्मित महाकालेश्वर मंदिर, रूठी रानी का महल एवं हजारेश्वर मंदिर दर्शनीय है।
जहाजपुर-
यह भीलवाड़ा का प्रसिद्ध ऐतिहासिक स्थल हैं। यहाँ गेबी पीर के नाम से प्रसिद्ध मजिस्द दर्शनीय है।
बिजौलिया-
बिजौलिया-
माण्डलगढ़ से 35 किमी. दूर बिजौलिया में प्रसिद्ध मंदाकिनी मंदिर स्थित है। राजस्थान का प्रथम किसान आन्दोलन यहीं शुरू हुआ। बिजौलिया जैन तीर्थ स्थल के रूप में विख्यात है। यहाँ का पार्श्वनाथ मंदिर अपनी प्राचीनता एवं 12वीं शताब्दी के विशाल शिलालेख के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
शाहपुरा-
भीलवाड़ा से 50 किमी. दूर शाहपुरा रियासत काल में राजधानी था। यह स्थान रामस्नेही सम्प्रदाय के श्रद्धालुओं का प्रमुख तीर्थस्थल है। मुख्य मंदिर रामद्वारा के नाम से जाना जाता है। शाहपुरा में प्रसिद्ध स्वतन्त्रता सैनानी ठाकुर केसरी सिंह बारहठ की हवेली विद्यमान है। शाहपुरा में फड़ की पेंटिंग भी बनाई जाती है। होली के दूसरे दिन शाहपुरा में प्रसिद्ध फूलडोल मेला भरता है।
अन्य स्मरणीय तथ्य
- इस क्षेत्र की वैदिक काल में होने वाले धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों की जानकारी नान्दशा में पाए गए यूप स्तम्भ से होती है। केन्द्रीय ऊर्जा मंत्री सुशील कुमार शिंदे ने 20 अगस्त, 2011 को माण्डल कस्बे में पावरग्रिड की निष्पादित परियोजना का लोकार्पण किया।
- टैक्सटाइल मंत्रालय ने भीलवाड़ा में पावरलूम मेगा क्लस्टर स्थापित किया है। वर्तमान में जिले में देश के सूटिंग उत्पादन का लगभग 50 प्रतिशत होता है।
- होली के तेरह दिन बाद होने वाला नाहर नृत्य माण्डल में होता है। यहाँ का स्वांग प्रसिद्ध है, जो भील-मीणा करते है।
- माणिक्यलाल वर्मा टैक्सटाइल इंस्टीट्यूट भीलवाड़ा में एक मुख्य शैक्षणिक संस्थान है।
- शाहपुरा उत्तरदायी शासन स्थापित करने वाली प्रथम देशी रियासत थी। उस समय यहाँ का शासक सुदर्शनदेव था।
- प्रसिद्ध बहुरूपिया कलाकार जानकीलाल भांड आंगूचा का निवासी है।
- राष्ट्रीय इस्पात निगम द्वारा भीलवाड़ा जिले में इस्पात संयंत्रों की स्थापना शीघ्र प्रस्तावित है। इससे राज्य में लगभग 4,000 करोड़ रुपए के निवेश की उम्मीद है।
- भरतपुर के उपरान्त राज्य की दूसरी रेल कोच फैक्ट्री भीलवाड़ा में स्थापित की जाएगी। यह फैक्ट्री BHEL और रेलवे मिलकर लगाएंगे। भीलवाड़ा में 'मैमू' कोच फैक्ट्री भी स्थापित की गई हैं।

Soil- Red-black soil is found here. This soil is considered good for maize and cotton. • Animal Husbandry and Dairying - A dairy plant is functioning in Bhilwara. Among the animals found here are cows, bulls, sheep and goats.

Meja Dam Project-
This dam has been built on the Kothari river in Bhilwara district. From this water is made available to Bhilwara for drinking.

Agriculture/Crops- Wheat, Jowar, Bajra, Guar, Maize, Sugarcane, Mango, Groundnut, Castor.
Mineral-
- Iron ore, copper, mica, Ghia stone, china clay, granite, marble, lead and zinc, beryllium, feldspar, quartz, silica sand. The precious stone Tamra is also found here.
- Bhilwara is famous throughout the country for the highest production of mica.
- Large quantities of lead-zinc deposits have been found in Rampura Aangucha.
Industry-
- Bhilwara is called the Textile City of Rajasthan. It is also called Manchester of Rajasthan due to the abundance of cotton textile industry in Rajasthan.
- Mewar Textiles Mills was established here in 1938. Co-operative cotton textile mills are functioning in Gangapur and Gulabpura.
- Most of the units of cotton textile industry in Rajasthan are located in Bhilwara district.
- The mica briquette industry is also located here.
- Mandalgarh Industrial Area and Hammirgarh Industrial Development Center are established in Bhilwara.

Phad Painting (Shahpura, Bhilwara)-
The painting of life story of folk deities made on cloth is called Phad painting. The phad of Devnarayan ji is considered to be the longest. Shri Lal Joshi is its famous artist, who has been awarded the Padma Shri.

Scenic Spots
mandalgarh-
51 KM from Bhilwara. An ancient fort is situated in Mandalgarh on the distant triangular plateau. Muhammad Ghori won this fort from the Chauhans. Later the Hadas also ruled here. His war with the Sisodis of Mewar continued. Kshetra Singh of Mewar won it in 1389, but then for some time the fort came under the possession of Hadas and then Kumbhas conquered it. Mandalgarh was the gateway to Mewar for the Mughal emperors. Among the places of interest here are Shiva temple, Rishabhdev Jain temple etc.
Sawai Bhoj Temple-
50 km from Bhilwara on Bhilwara-Biawar road. The ancient temple of Sawai Bhoj in distant Asind is the pilgrimage center of Gurjar society. here . A cattle fair is held every year in the month of Bhadra.
Menal-
20 KM from Mandalgarh. This archaeological and tourist site is situated on the border of Chittor. The Mahakaleshwar temple, Ruthi Rani's palace and Hazareshwar temple, built with red stones during the Chauhan period of 12th century, are worth visiting here.
Jahazpur-
This is a famous historical place of Bhilwara. Here the famous mosque known as Gabi Pir is visible.
Bijolia-
35 KM from Mandalgarh. The famous Mandakini temple is situated in distant Bijolia. The first peasant movement of Rajasthan started here. Bijolia is famous as a Jain pilgrimage site. The Parshvanath temple here is famous for its antiquity and the huge 12th century inscription.
Shahpura-
50 KM from Bhilwara. Far Shahpura was the capital during the princely period. This place is a major pilgrimage center for the devotees of Ramsnehi sect. The main temple is known as Ramdwara. Famous freedom fighter Thakur Kesari Singh Barahth ki Haveli exists in Shahpura. Phad paintings are also made in Shahpura. On the second day of Holi the famous Phooldol fair fills in Shahpura.
Other facts to remember
- The religious rituals of this region during the Vedic period are known from the Yupa pillar found in the Nandasa. Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde inaugurated the executed project of POWERGRID in Mandal town on 20 August 2011.
- Ministry of Textiles has set up Powerloom Mega Cluster in Bhilwara. Presently the district accounts for about 50 percent of the country's suiting production.
- Nahar dance, which takes place thirteen days after Holi, takes place in Mandal. The masquerade here is famous, which is done by Bhil-Meena.
- Manikyalal Verma Textile Institute is one of the premier educational institute in Bhilwara.
- Shahpura was the first princely state to establish responsible governance. At that time the ruler here was Sudars.
